Environmental Benefits
Governments at all levels are mandating increased energy efficiency and reduced Greenhouse Gases and other pollutants, and are often assisting with meeting the
costs entailed in reaching the goals set.
QEA Tech provides building owners and managers the opportunity to reduce Greenhouse Gases, eliminate HVAC wastage, and make a
positive contribution to sustainability and zero energy. Many cities are passing laws mandating periodic inspections designed to reduce
energy leakage. QEA Tech audits provide the information required by such local ordinances.
For example, New York’s Façade Inspection Safety Program (previously known as Local Law 11) requires that owners of buildings of
more than six stories must be inspected for safety every five years. In New York City, this impacts more than 12,000 buildings.
According to New York’s Urban Green Council, “To reduce carbon emissions from buildings, the City of New York enacted Local Law 97
(LL97) in 2019 as a part of the Climate Mobilization Act. This leading-edge law places carbon caps on most buildings larger than 25,000
square feet-roughly 50,000 residential and commercial properties across NYC. These caps start in 2024 and will become more stringent over time, eventually reducing emissions 80 percent by 2050. The law is the most ambitious building emissions legislation enacted by any city in the world.”
